COVID-19 / Corona latest information

no entry restrictions for VACCINATED travelers

VISA ON ARRIVAL IS BACK!

With the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, Cambodia suspended Visa on Arrival. However, as of March 17th, 2022, the issuing of Visas on Arrival has resumed. Also, for incoming flight passengers all restrictions related to Covid-19 were lifted, but for fully vaccinated travelers only.

By the way, if you so desire, you can still apply for a visa in advance online: www.evisa.gov.kh.

Currently, as of June 7, 2023, Cambodia’s land and sea borders remain closed to entry of foreigners without prior authorisation.

ASEAN passport holders are exempted from visa requirements.

COVID VACCINATIONS & TESTING

Pre-flight PCR test

ALL Passengers, including children/babies, must have a printed medical certificate indicating a negative Coronavirus (COVID-19) PCR test conducted no more than 72 hours before arrival into Cambodia. Must be hard copy (not digital), should have wet ink signature & stamp.

COVID-19 Vaccination Card/Certificate

All fully vaccinated travellers are required to present their vaccination card/certificate in order to be eligible for quarantine free entry. This must confirm your complete vaccination status: two shots of any two-shot vaccination, or one shot of Johnson & Johnson, Sputnik Light or CanSinoBio. Boosters are not required for now. Final dose required to have been administered at least 14 days prior to arrival.

Must state:

  • Travellers Name
  • Type of Vaccine
  • Date of vaccinations

IMPORTANT: Hard copy only (i.e. NOT digital on phone/tablet), if it is a card then make a colour photocopy, if digital then print out in colour.

COVID-19 Testing on arrival

All arrivals, including children/babies, will be tested on arrival into Cambodia, either with a rapid antigen or PCR test.

  • Vaccinated Travellers – Rapid Antigen Test on arrival only
  • Unvaccinated Travellers – Rapid Antigen Test on arrival / PCR Test on day 13.

Those who are fully vaccinated but test positive for COVID-19 will generally be allowed to quarantine at a self-chosen destination. If that is unsuitable or not available, you’ll be sent to a quarantine/treatment facility approved by the Ministry of Health. (Avoid such centers AT ALL COST, they’re terrible!)

For UNVACCINATED ONLY:

All unvaccinated foreigners must have either a pre-booked ASQ (Alternative State Quarantine) Hotel or pay a deposit at a designated bank on arrival to cover quarantine related expenses. (Note: Many airlines require travellers to have this in cash).

  • Deposit Amount (if no pre booked ASQ hotel) = USD$2000
  • This does not apply to passengers with an A-type (Diplomatic) or B-type (Official) Visa. They can quarantine at an approved residence as arranged by the Embassy or IO, or pre-book their quarantine at one of the ASQ Hotels.
  • This does not apply to nationals of Cambodia travelling on a Cambodian passport, or foreign passport with K-type (Special) Visa. They can quarantine for free at a Government quarantine facility, or opt for hotel quarantine at their own expense.
  • General foreigners quarantine expenses will be deducted from the deposit, or paid directly to the hotel if pre-booked.

Quarantine periods

7 Day Quarantine: Travellers with travel history to Botswana, Eswatini, Lesotho, Mozambique, Namibia, South Africa, Zimbabwe, Malawi, Angola & Zambia are required to undergo 7 days quarantine even if fully vaccinated. Please refer to SSCA Notice No.354

14 Day Quarantine: for all travellers who have not had a complete course of the required COVID-19 vaccination at least 14 days prior to arrival.

Children: Unvaccinated under 18-year-olds travelling as part of a family group, will be quarantined in accordance with the period that applies to their parents.

COVID-19 Insurance

A separate insurance for COVID-19 is no longer required, but it’s very strongly advised that you have a general health insurance while travelling in Cambodia.

Transit Airports

If you’re flying in via transit airports (Bangkok, Singapore, Seoul) you need to check the transit destination requirements as they are all different and constantly changing.
